TV is dead, Long live TV- Kevin Maher

"Television sets are starting to be surpassed by tablets and smartphones as the viewing platform of choice." (Photo: Getty Images)

As more people view programmes on other devices, the number of households owning TV sets is falling.

According to Kevin Maher, the new reality, however, is far more democratic and is driven by a central irony- that there is nothing on television today that justifies the existence of "the television". News and sports, movies, etc.

"I've left my telly for a slim, young tablet...My TV just sits there untouched- like a curious anomaly"-Kevin Maher

Kevin Maher used to love his TV set until he started watching films on his phone and iPad.
