Alcatel-Lucent to explore investment opportunities in Nigeria and other African Markets

French telecommunications company Alcatel-Lucent has announced  its interest in exploring investment opportunities in Nigeria and other African Markets.

According to National Mirror, The company which is set to be acquired by Nokia has deployed a number of LTE networks in Africa.

It predicted that Internet usage on mobile phones in Africa will experience unprecedented growth, doubling the rate of the rest of the world.

The company noted there is no  strong fixed line network and believes Africa has various connectivity needs crucial for it's social and economic development.

The company stated that increasing the availability of ultra broad band services is essential for Africa's future development.

It pointed out that becoming digital is an important catalyst for change, for development and innovation, adding that Africa's infrastructure will need greater capacity to deliver high-quality ultra-broadband connectivity to support added-value services for end users in both urban and rural areas.
