President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the widely held belief that Nigeria is a rich country by people across the world is erroneous.

According to Punch newspaper, a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, quoted the President while granting an audience to the outgoing President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Donald Kaberuka, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President said information at his disposal showed that the country’s social services had to be seriously rehabilitated.“Our social services have to be seriously rehabilitated. We need urgent attention in areas like education and health services, not only in the north-eastern part of the country, but all round the country.”

He said his administration would fall back on institutions like the AfDB for support in generating employment, especially using the agricultural sector.

He said the reality is that the impression  that Nigeria is rich is really wrong.
