Okorocha bows to Archbishop Obinna's pressure for Social Accountability in Imo State

As a matter of fact, the Governor and of course, the state Government had taken the Archbishop's call in good faith and would continue to appreciate him"- Okorocha, (Photo: Facebook)

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has agreed to publish the financial account of the state from 2011 to date.

According to Leadership Newspaper, this was made known to the press by his chief press secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo following a call by Arch-Bishop Obinna, the catholic archbishop of Owerri diocese to make public the account of the state to enable the public to know the financial status of the state.

According to the statement, the state government said it views the call by the archbishop as a patrotic one, especially from the respected Archbishop.

"With the Archbishop's call now, the state government is not only going to make the accounts public but will also publish the accounts for those willing to see or have them to do so".

The truth also remains that the state government has been announcing the financial position of the state since it came into power in 2011, but had only been doing that at functions and other public fora...
The State government under Governor Okorocha has a character, that is the character of respecting the views of the citizens of the state and the Archbishop's call cannot be viewed differently.

We respect it and it's to be positively responded to.
The government remains grateful to the Archbishop and the entire people of the state for their understanding and prayers"  the statement concludes.
